This is an exciting day ... I think SFO is an important, strategic step for B6. I predict SFO-IAD/LGB (I know, I know)/BUR/LAS in the future as potential markets (assuming WN doesnt get to IAD/BUR/LAS first).

Rather regrettably, the winds aloft are springtime negligible and the A320 will indeed make the transcontinental flight nonstop barring a huge traffic foul-up going into SFO. At the reduced 150 pax configuration, the increased seat pitch and IFE will just add to JetBlue's sterling reputation. Just wait until next winter when a dip in the jet stream will have B6 making technical stops and enable A320 bashers to howl louder than ever.

This is defiently a good sign for B6, SFO expansion could be on the horizon with the rare announcement of SLC already, and i am sure a few more connecting the dots on the west coast. Would be nice to see SAN, MCO, and IAD, and of course many more. Any thoughts as to more transcons from the west coast?

She's here: "California Blue" N656JB ! I love the name already   Welcome to SFO JetBlue!

Got the water gun salute on her portside first then with a higher aimed gun on the starboard side. Lots of Operation Airport Safety vehicles surrounding her (from a distance of course).

Parked at gate Int'l A10 at 11:35AM PST.

Thanks for the head-up info AS739X.

Someone here on A.net has been pleading and screaming for years about SAN-Florida (MCO or FLL)! (Oh yeah, that would be me.  Wink )

There have also been threads about West Coast (north and south) flights on E-190s from B6 sometime and I would expect SFO would play a role in that scenario. (I just found out on another thread that apparently AS is already dropping their new SAN-SFO service in the fall and at least 2 other cx -- WN and VX -- are expected to enter that market soon so I don't know if Blue would want to get involved in that particular market or not.)

I will be watching B6 from SFO with much interest to see how they do and how their success there affects OAK and SJC op's. It just seems like a lot of resources and duplication of services in a small (yet certainly well-populated) area. If this works well, I see no reason why they wouldn't announce LAX soon...

So, you are saying that you would rather JetBlue losing money on the flight and 150 people be inconvinienced?

I hear bookings are fantastic, and it's great that the flights today are getting in on-time so far. A good start at SFO!

If they are concentrated in a largely populated area in and around SFO, that is a good thing, As they have done that with NYC to a large extent and have faired well. They probably stand a good chance with San Jose, Oakland, San Francisco and to a lesser extent Sacramento, in implementing the same strategy they have used to get NYC market share.

They just need more planes, and they can connect the dots out west. The only real issue, is that Southwest is stronger in those markets then they are in the NYC ones. That is where the real challenge will come from for southwest in my opinion!

cheers

Wasn't it a while ago that B6 stated they were going to start offering more P2P routes? This has started, I guess, with SLC-SAN/SFO flights.. when are they going to start doing more P2P?

SFO-SLC is one of the most interesting JetBlue routes that I have seen. Who would have thought 2-3 years ago that JetBlue would EVER be flying SFO-SLC? Also, I think that especially during ski season, JetBlue could add 2X daily JFK-SLC service.

This was my first time being in a JetBlue aircraft and I was amazed of how much leg room there really was.

Am trying to judge from the angle of your first 2 photos as to whether you were that only man on the ramp I saw wearing a dark suit with a light blue shirt & taking photos during the salute.

Seatguru.com says JetBlue seat pitch is 36".

No I was not. All the photographers had to be inside, I asked the station Manager but she said I had to stay inside.
