Please Help Me Identify A Mystery 747

Wed May 09, 2007 12:54 am

I live about 7 miles west of Manston (EGMH). We get plenty of MK Airlines 742F flying in and out, and the odd Virgin 744 flying circuits for pilot training. However, this last week or two I've seen a 747 on at least three occasions that I don't recognise. I never seem to be able to catch the aircraft close enough to read the titles on the side...

It's got a white fuselage with a red tail, and the red extends forward part of the way along the fuselage. My initial thought was that is a VS 744 in the new livery, but I found a couple of pics of a GIRJet 742F in the database here that look very similar to what I saw. However, I could swear the aircraft I saw had winglets and the stretched upper deck of a 744. Any ideas what else it could have been?

Hi

I'd guess as from these photos it's Oasis Hong Kong doing circuit training flights

That looks like the one! Thanks!

Beautiful livery for sure, and an unusual visitor to MSE! I just wish we still had the old MK Airlines DC-8s roaring over nearly every day like we used to!
