Jet Airways Classy First Class Suites

Wed May 09, 2007 1:03 am

Yesterday a travel show on BBC showed this Indian carriers new First class suites they are so classy, much better than EK, EY, QR at first I thought they were showing JAL since the suites have this zen style look, this is the only photo I can find, are there anymore? there will be eight suites each on the 773ER fleet, they will also feature 23 inch TV, 83 inch flat bed said to be the biggest in the skies.

Too bad Landor failed as far as their livery makeover is concerned.

Wow, this looks really great. Someday I might get to experience this First Class product of 9W. BTW, will they have First Class, Business Class & then Cattle Class? Or is it just Y and F???
Thanks

Both of the airlines have classy crew... especially since almost all of them are between the ages of 18-22 or so. You never see anyone older than that... ohhhh may be 24 at the most. Kingfisher crew is especially sexier as they essentially represent Kingfisher brand promoted by India's Sir Richard - Dr. Mallya.

A couple of weeks ago I flew Jet Airways from Bangalore to New Delhi in Business class on a 737-400. The domestic flight was 2 hours 35 minutes. They served breakfast on the flight on cloth tablecloths, with Noritake china, glasses, and six pieces of silverware. We were served cold towels before the meal. The meal consisted of cold cereal with your choice of hot or cold milk; a fruit plate. The entree was ordered off a menu. I chose an egg omlette with hash browns and sausage. There were crossants also.
The cabin crew was very young, attractive, and sharply dressed. On deplaning, I asked the flight attendant how many of them were on the 737-400 - she said six.

I flew them from Delhi to Bangalore a few years ago and was mighty impressed. I flew Sahara from Bangalore to Delhi and back and found them a little bit better at the time though Jet was pretty close.

Very nice though I think the fake wood paneling looks a bit like an IBM office circa 1982. I could tolerate it enough for a long haul flight since the rest of it looks pretty comfy.

That's the remote. The PTV is in the wall behind the guy on the right in that picture.

It is Better and more spacious than any airlines' first class I've noticed till date. I do blieve people are gonna opt for 9W after they start their transatlantic flights (BOM-BRU-JFK) in August 5th , and Then to PVG and SFO in winter. Check out their Website, Even the Business class suites are much better than those on BA, SQ, EK,...etc
If it wasn't for AI and those money mongers sitting in the parliament, 9W would have been as big as SQ...:(

Jet Airways have been one of my favourite airlines for some time now. Too bad they aren't flying to DXB as yet, but I'm sure they'll do so next year. Their new product looks classy and they will seriously challenge the big names once they begin to fly to more international destinations.

Cheers

773 = F/J/Y

332 = J/y

343 = going,....going....goeing...

cabin-crew = yummy!

new colour scheme = cool...

all the above beat AI hands down!

Could have been better, cant believe Landor did the modified version, they should have been given the liberty to completey redo the image rather than just modify it, and the livery dosent complemet or reflect their inflight product, I would never imgine Jet having such fantastic interiors if I were just to see their livery or logo, something simple like Virgin would have been much better especially with the Jet bit in their title.

Even this is classier in its simplicity infact it matches Jet's interior colour schemes.

= Have you flown SQ's new J? It looks good - but is much more cramped than I'd like. The seats have width, but when extended ... thats another matter. While SQ-J vs. 9W-J can be a matter of preference, SQ's new F is miles BEHIND 9W/EK/etc.

Correct.

Having flown on the Emirates First Class suite, I would have to say that the above Jet Airways 1st cabin looks far inferior.

Emirate's First Class cabin will one day be topped but not quite yet - Jet Airways will have to do better than that.

err, have you actually seen the new colour scheme - far superior and imaginative to the old boring one! i'm sure to be corrected, but i think it's only on their new 773's and 332's...not the old stock..

as for their new first class product on the 773's, each personal space is good, but the actual 1st class cabin is quite cramped...

and as for their cabin crew = wow-za! yummy! scrumptious!  thumbsup   yummy  makes you wonder why anyone would ever fly Scare India?!?!

Yes I have, and it dosent complement the new interiors, looks out dated and like an inhouse job, thats why I was surprised Landor helped modify it, it still has that stuck-in-the-past south asian touch lacking a professional touch, JAL's minimalist livery is more complementary to Jet's interiors, thats why I said I thought it was JL first class when I saw it on TV, zen like, with warm colours and the natural looking wood work.

Ditto! Its so classy compared with EK's, I used to wonder why airlines were not introducing a classier look in First Class instead of sterilility and who knew that an Indian carrier would do that.

I flew DEL-MAA, MAA-BOM on 9W 2 weeks ago and I must say that even in Y class, they used real cloth napkins. Cold towels were distributed before take off, 2 choices of maincourses (Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian) on the short hop, stunning and cabin crew who smiled at every requests from passengers...yes even irritating passengers who kept playing with the call button.

Those young good looking crew were certainly en par if not better than SQ's!!!!

Also had a meeting with Chairman of 9W, Mr Goyal during my trip. A really interest and approachable character... has anyone heard his childlike laughter?... really 'interesting'!

Agreed.

The Emirates F-Class suites look like they're designed for rappers with a serious 1980s decorating fetish.

And what's the point of having those silly cans of drinks in the F-Class Suites on EK? Its not like it comes with an ice maker or is refrigerated. It just looks tacky.

This one looks like an old IBM office from 1967.

All its missing is a typist named Midge and a computer large enough to fill Zone B of that 747.

For the record, I quite like the new seats, though I doubt I'll get the chance to fly in one since I rarely have any business with India. To me, the dark wood conveys a timeless sense of class and richness. We aren't talking about faux wood-grain paneling that would be probably be in the archetypical 'IBM office' circa, say, 1974!  Wink

Well Well Well......... Its bounce back time for JET

King fisher really made them change, I am not saying that Jet was bad but lagged any desire to provide great servie as they had very limited competition. But enter Kingfisher and they took travel on Indian Skies to another level (And also a lot of staff from Jet) So Jet is now fighting back. ( High time I started hating them and moved to King Fisher the minute their First Class was launched even service on London sector had gone down and those crappy seats on the 340's)

Now this post is re First Class so let me say this looks like one of the Best first class in the sky. I have flown on EK A340-500's initially when they used to take it to Gatwick it was fabulous and I dont think you can beet the suite concept anymore than these seats on EK and now 9W

Throw in the Entertainment System and bouqet of films jet has (Just check out their library for May/June on their web), the single malt collection, Krug, some great food, and bring in your best crew up front and you have a great product (Well comfort privacy leg room bed etc all covered in the suite)

I will be flying it shortly from Mumbai to London.

But what is confusing if they do not put these suites on the 330 they will not be able to offer them on their most popular route- London

From August they start BOM-BRU-EWR and later i hear DEL-BRU-YYZ so i guess 777 on these routes. These are scissor flights both flights get in same time and depart around same time. Indian passengers swap in BRU from DEL/BOM to go to EWR or YYZ

So if 777 on these routes what happens to DEL/BOM/AMD/ATQ - LHR. Well I know ATQ and AMD will get the 330's DEL and BOM will see the 777 temprorarily but looks like they will get 330 only later for the London flights. Maybe 1 777 and 1 330 from BOM and 330 from DEL so DEL will not get the F class is my guess....... Any Inputs

Also 340s i hear are going

I will post a thread on sky wars ...check that out too

The business class seat is manufactured by Contour. This is the 'Solar' model also used by AC and DL.

First class I am not 100% sure, but judging from the style basic structure, it seems remarkably simlar to Emirates First Class Suites, so I think it should be from Contour as well.

I don't find this offensive, but I also don't fly looking for a potential wife. For the most part, all airlines employ good looking front-line staff, actually not just airlines.

Agreed on the sensational looking first class. Can't wait to see Kingfisher's when they go long-haul.

I flew both 9W and IT when I went to India last december and I'll tell you this, IT has much better looking FAs; however when it comes to service, the 9W crew was better...
In BLR, I went to a lounge at the Grand Ashoka and that's where some of the FAs came (not in their uniforms, but in casual clothes) and those were one of the prettiest women i've seen.
Apparently, Mallya has a contract with the Grand Ashoka and that's where their crew stays overnight...
