Qantas 7556 JFK-HNL Now

Fri May 11, 2007 10:49 pm

Hey, I finally got the guts to join Airliners.net, so here i am.

But the actual reason I'm here, is I was wondering if anybody has any info on Qantas 7556 which just flew over my house in Southeast PA, and is flying New York JFK to Honolulu. Aircraft is a 747-400, so its not a codeshare with AA, not that AA even flies New York-Hawaii, but is this a charter, ferry, or new service?

It's a freighter. It sometimes charters Atlas to fly for them.

Just a note nearly all if not all QF flights which are 4 digits and begin with 7*** are cargo flights

QFA7556 (JFK-HNL) and QFA7554 (TOL-HNL) both continue onto SYD. HNL is only a tech stop. The flights are operated by Atlas Air / Polar Air Cargo.

I believe ANZ does the same with ANZ6972, and uses HNL as tech stop as well.

Atlas is like the ole Flying Tigers, covering every part of the world with big jets. Too bad the founder died in a plane crash in Colorado about 6 years ago, he was flying a fighter jet he owned.

And they almost went the way of Flying Tigers a few years ago.
