An-124 @ PBI!

Mon May 14, 2007 4:52 am

So there I was...laying out in the pool at my folks' home northwest of PBI, when I hear a massive roar shatter the skies above the house...looking up, I see a massive 4 engine plane roar overhead pretty low, no higher than about 2500 feet, at its highest...it was easily identifiable as an An-124...I immediately got out of the pool, shouted a couple of expletives (which caused my folks to come running outside, thinking I was about to drown or something) as I watched the beauty fly overhead as it made a graceful right turn just after passing over...I hastily dried off and went to flightaware, and it seems this bird was coming in from Leipzig and it was a Volga-Dnepr bird...any idea what it's bringing in or picking up and how long it's staying??

If it's not Blackhawks, I'd put my money on Polo horses.

We had an Emirates Cargo A310F here at FLL to pick up some Polo ponies about 2-3 weeks ago.

Why would they use an Antonov to carry horses? How many horses would you have to ship to need an Antonov that an A310 or DC-10 couldn't do?
