Airlines Operating Guatamala-Flores?

Tue May 15, 2007 12:22 am

Which airlines now fly Guatemala-Flores? I remember that four or five did, e.g. TACA, Rasca, TAG, etc (in my June 2004 OAG book, one airline, which I can't remember, operated the B11 on the route), but I'm not sure who currently does.

Cheers.

TAG still flies LETS on the route 3x/day. They don't operate from the main terminal at GUA though. Rather, they use their own terminal/hangar on the airfield's southside near the DHL facility.

TikalJets used to operate the BAC-111s on this route but they were later replaced with DC-9's. Unfortuntely, TikalJets ceased ops last August.

TACA picked up these routes from when Aviateca mergerd into the TACA Group. I flew on the Tikal Jets to Flores when they were still using props. The bus ride from Guatemala City to Flores is at least 10 to 12 hours.

Right. There was a thread last year that included an article about their ceasing of operations.

Actually, the ATR flight (which continues to CUN) operates 4x a week; the other two are dailies.

That's right... also, RACSA is flying a Saab 340, I think it's one daily but I'd have to check.

It's around 8 hours, actually. When I last visited Tikal in 2005, the drive back home took us 7 hours. Big grin

Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.
