Qatar Airways To Melbourne Via Bangkok?

Tue May 15, 2007 7:33 pm

The Akhbar Al Haleej reported today:

"Qatar Airways is about to launch its flight directed to Melbourne through Bangkok very soon, and the Australian government approved on adding another daily flight to another Australian city by 2008. Etihad Airways was licensed to fly 28 additional weekly flights by 2011".

Wasn't aware that the decision had already been made to route through BKK - not a bad option I guess.

It was very much anticipated for QR to operate via BKK--- my guess would be using A333 equipment. But, then again QR is known for its surprises--perhaps maybe a nonstop route will be possible with 77W in November. Who knows?

Nothing official as yet, and I suspect via BKK would be an interim measure.
As QR A340 has pointed out, when B777 comes online, going non-stop DOH-MEL will be the priority!

Definatley. Especially since Emirates and Etihad both fly nonstop to the middle east.
