Lynx AOC - Final Approval Given

Tue May 22, 2007 3:38 am

I thought it wouldn't happen for a couple of days yet, but here it is:

They're hiring at BIL and ICT, and I guess we'll start to see the route announcements soon.

BIL and ICT were pretty close to given... Any other strong possibilities? I think RAP and maybe FSD stand a pretty good shot, as well as the intra-Colorado stuff (EGE, ASE, GUC, DRO...dammit why did I have to leave DRO?...seriously, I kept wanting DRO and 2 months after I leave they announce Lynx...wtf man?). Any other bets?

BIL - yes. But ICT is a mild surprise to me, at least, as one of the first.

And I think that TUL already has Lynx ground staff?

But I still don't know why the RFP was sent to Huntsville, AL.  Smile

The Denver Post has a round up of some of the potential cities, and the incentives they are offering:

Plus, in the same article, Frontier has put out an RFP for the hangar - five airports get the nod, including DIA.

Nice article. I like that bit about APA not having the infrastructure for a Lynx hangar... I guess they haven't heard of the F50 freighter conversion happening on the field *cough*NIMBYs*cough*

I am just not sure I see the value in having a hangar at any of those airports. They don't serve any of them, and a cross-city flight from DEN to any of them sounds like a waste of fuel, pilot time, ATC's time, and really just smacks of effort all around.

PUB and COS equally pointless, except they're further away so more of all of the above, however If they plan on serving PUB or COS via Lynx and can swap mainline aircraft onto the route, so be it.

I don't think we can rule out Lynx doing El Paso, Albuquerque and Oklahoma City as well as Billings and Tulsa and the new city of Wichita. All well within the range. If that happens, there won't be a lot of aircraft time left for too many new cities. Sioux Falls, Aspen and Vail could almost use up what's left if they are chosen.

As expected. I believe this service will do quite well. I spoke to a friend of the family who is in planning at F9 who was telling me that with the DH4s, they hope to be able to provide BIL with a more consistent level of service year round rather than what they've been doing with the CR7s. As it has been, F9 does incredibly well during the summer when they have multiple flights that connect to almost anywhere F9 flies. However, during the winter, they would only fly one flight that only connected to 8 of their destinations, which really severely hurt their results here. He told me that we can pretty much count on 2-3 flights year round. Hopefully they will do some advertising up here as well. I book tickets for a lot of people and when I put them on Frontier, they almost always say, "Frontier flies here????" Invariably, they love it, and insist on flying with F9 again and again.
Good goes around!

It's all well above my pay scale.  Smile

They have to have a hangar - if nothing else, C checks are coming up - and if DIA won't play ball in the money department -- ?

But who knows? The CEO is an obstinate man, as we saw with the A gates at DEN, and I have no idea what he has in mind.

And you forgot to add that the CEO is a smart man. Sam Addoms still has a little say so too, so the team is ripe!

Congrats on the AOC approval! Now we just need to see some DH4 action going on! I can't wait to see these bad boys and girls showing off a little tail action in DEN!
