Varig Graveyard Still Full?

Fri May 25, 2007 6:12 am

i just landed at gig and passed the VEM service hangar. i counted at least 2 777's and 2 or 3 MD11's and i think a 757 still in VARIG liveries. my gosh they have been sitting there a long time. where are they off too? didnt AM and Brunai take the 777's?

One B777 (ex-PP-VRB) was reported to be destined for AM during the second quarter. Royal Brunei was reported to accept the other one during 2007 (ex-PP-VRF/N208UA). MD-11 ex-PP-VQH will be used as a freighter by Aeroflot Cargo, a B734 (ex-PP-VTM) is about to enter service with Adam Air as PK-KME. Other birds currently stored at GIG are PP-VOI & VOJ, two B763ER. All four B757 were delivered to Kras Air between 11/06 and 01/07.

Departed today from GIG at 9:14 am local time to MAO and SJO

At least from what i've heard here, ex. PP-VRB is 99% in hands of AM. It is expected to follow PP-VRA and fly GIG-CAN-MEX. Nice pair of B763ERs, yes, any idea of who's getting them!?

BTW, recently saw one more B763ER for Pluna, do they have 2 now? Where will they fly to?

I believe we have nowadays at GIG 5 Boeing 763ER.

One from PU on maintenance, two from EuroAtlantic that should fly for G3/RG very shortly, and more two, ex-Varig, under negotiations.. could be G3/RG or BRA.

Thanks LipeGIG. I thought PU would be interested in one more. Euro Atlantic seems logical. I'm betting GOL will these for RG though.

AM seems to be taking a lot of aircraft. Are they shedding any?

Does anyone know what is intended for VRI and VRJ? Are they in as bad a shape as the -236's were?

I don't know the future operator, but can say they need some improvements on seats as some are broken and many PTVs are not working...

PP-VRB departed this saturday also from GIG (May 26). I don't know yet about destination, but seems that it's China !

So very shortly finally AM will get another good 772ER.
