SkyWest (USA) Adding 27 More Planes

Sat May 26, 2007 10:06 pm

According to ATWonline.com, SkyWest is going to add 27 aircraft to their fleet. They recently received their last CRJ900 from Bombardier (from the original 17 aircraft order), so will we see a follow on order? Or will this increase in capacity be for the contract they have flying for Midwest Connect?
(i.e. More CRJ-200's)

Are they going to be more CRJ-900s?

Seventeen (17) aircraft have been delivered this year already, of which 12 were the CRJ-900 deliveries. The rest of the year, so far, are aircraft for the Midwest operation.

I don’t believe Sky West has anymore aircrafts on order from Bombardier…

The Midwest operation is only 15 airplanes by September or October and up to 25 for the length of the contract (5 years). I wonder if he meant SkyWest Inc?

I highly dought SkyWest is ordering brand new CRJ-200s to fill in the rest of the 25 for the YX contract. But look they're complaining they can't do a simple job.

"SkyWest in April began operating in a codeshare arrangement with Midwest Airlines, which includes onboard baking and serving of Midwest's trademark cookies, he said (ATWOnline, April 3). SkyWest still is trying to master baking and serving cookies by a single flight attendant on a short-haul CRJ flight. "We're getting there. We have to take a long look at how well we can do that," he said."
Good Luck to all Skyway Pilots! It's been great working with you!

How is that complaining?

All of those aircraft operating for YX are being pulled off from UAX/DLC operation as those routes are being replaces by larger CR7 and CR9. Most of those aircraft operating for YX are ex DH’s bird.

There were 1 or 2 ex Comair CRJ-200s at the SkyWest base in Tucson this past week. Perhaps these were going to SkyWest?

I don't think anyone said they were. The 200 isn't built in a passenger configuration anymore anyway. The additional 10 as Goldenshield said were the remaining 10 of the 15 Midwest Connect airplanes.
