How Many 743's Left In Qantas' Fleet?

Mon May 28, 2007 12:42 pm

Hi all, I was just curious to know how many 743s (if any) are left in Quantas' fleet? What routes are they on and any idea how long they'll last?

Ok thanks for the link. Just curious, I know Quantas has an airplane painted in aboriginal-style artwork, was that a -300 or a -400 series?

there are two 747 in Aboriginal artwork for QF.

A 743 VH-EBU that is being parted out at AAV and a 744ER.

PS: Qantas originally stood for Queensland And Northern Territory Areial Service, so being an acroymn there is no U.

Remaining aircraft are 4:
VH-EBV
VH-EBW
VH-EBX
VH-EBY

Two are used on Perth services, one each from Sydney and Melbourne - 2 returns daily.

Not sure about other use.

Does anyone know the hours/cycles on the QF 747's? It would be interesting to see what the 743's are up to and how the 744's are catching up....

Seriously, is there any need to keep reminding people about the superfluous "u" in QUANTAS? Yes, its mildly annoying in that it jars on the eye, but can we not just get on with the thread instead of converting it into a much-repeated (yet clearly ignored) lesson on the history of the airline.

Has indeed sent the last of the great birds off to another owner. It is sad, yet it is a sign of the progression of time. They will be missed. They flew throughout the network from Rome to Honolulu to Hong Kong to Los Angeles and so forth. Sadly the only people who will miss these birds are those of us with a passion for commerical aviation.
