QR Carries 8m. And On Track For 12m By 2009

Mon May 28, 2007 5:05 pm

Quote:
Qatar Airways is seeing a 35% lift in its passenger numbers year on year and is on target to fly 12m people in 2009 when the New Doha International Airport opens, reported Gulf News. Ali Al Rais, QR's GM for Commercial Operations, said the airline carried just over 6m people last year and it should hit around 8m in 2007.

Another article states that by 2015 QR would have 150 planes in its fleet more than the first anticipated 110 planes.

First of all
Happy Birthday to you for completing your first year with airliners.net

QR is ambitious although i'm bit worried about their future. As far as Oil/Gas prices are up, QR is fine. But if the prices went down only God knows what would QR situation be.

I don't think the price of oil will go down in such a way as to threaten QR or any other M/E airline or economy.

It's good to see QR doing well and growing fast. Has the airline ever published load factor figures? What are they like, on average and what are its busiest routes?

Also, when is the airline likely to announce its next batch of new routes? I'd love to see Dublin being added.

Hmm well I do not think that you have to be too worried. If QR is hit by high oil prices EK,EY etc etc will be affected too. However I do not see a problem since they have a lot of money to spent for useless things Big grin .

As far as new routes those for 2007 have already been announced. But, watch out for possible Aussie services later this year... I am actually surprised Manchester hasn't been upgraded to double daily since its a high-load factor routes.

Surprisingly no. Any info that comes out, if any, comes out of Mr. Al-Baker during news conferences. But no specific numbers...  Sad

I didn't say high oil prices, i said low oil prices. As far as State of Qatar oil revenue are high they will push QR but if the prices collapsed QR will struggle too.
