LAN And JFK

Thu May 31, 2007 2:27 am

I have question regarding the new non-stops to Santiago from JFK. Will this flight sit all day at JFK or will LAN use it for another flight. And with this flight what is LAN's total schedual at JFK ?

They should use it on a tag on to YUL (Montreal?). I believe they use to fly here in the past.

Didn't know they were starting Santiago service, but if memory serves me from the last time I compiled JFK schedules, LAN operates JFK-Lima and JFK-Guayaquil....They have a 767 operate GYE-JFK that arrives in the late evening and then turns around to operate JFK-LIM around midnight...LIM-JFK arrives in the morning and turns around to operate JFK-GYE in the mid-morning. So there are typically no LAN planes at JFK for most of the day or overnight. Hope this helps.

There will be six weekly flights to Lima on LAN Chile, three weekly flights to Santiago de Chile on LAN Chile, and daily service to Guayquil on LAN Ecaudor (LAN Chile aircraft, LAN Ecuador crew).

Yes, but the Peruvian government cut the number of flights they can have between the US and Peru on their own aircraft, hence new non-stop LAX-SCL and JFK-SCL.

LAN has never operate to Canada and they don't have plans to do it.

The non stop service to JFK is because the Peruvian Goverment in only political decision cut reduce the frequencies to LAN to JFK and LAX. Only in 2009 the Goverment of Peru will return the 14 frequencies to JFK and LAX with 5th freedom at Lima.

If I am not mistaken, it was Ladeco (an airline bought by LA) who flew to YUL or YMX. I think there was a technical stop en route.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

Check your facts. In 1989....

LA 148 SCL-MIA-JFK-YUL 762
LA 149 YUL-JFK-MIA-SCL 762

On OAG and actually a Chilean GAO guide from that year details on this flight. LA dropped the route and was later operated by Ladeco(UC) for a short period of time. I agree that currently LA does not have plans to do so. But it would be cool to see them back in Montreal.

I remember the LA and Ladeco service to Montreal which didn't last very long. If not mistaken, they had 5th freedom local traffic rights on the Canada-USA sectors. And just to nitpick, it wasn't to YUL but to YMX (Mirabel Airport) which handled international services then.

Ladeco after LAN. Both for short periods.

You are right it was Mirabel.
