BIMAN: 1300 Of 4700 Staff To Be Laid Off

Biman has been incurring losses of US$750M per year running a fleet of 12 aircrafts with a support staff of 4700 which is nearly 480 people per aircraft!! This current layoff of 1300 of the 4700 (which used to be 6800 back in March) will help no doubt in re-structuring the ailing airline with its dilapidated fleet.

Excuse me for the possible misinformation, but wasnt EK interested in taking a stake in Biman?

Probably .. can't be sure ..
If so, the most probable reason EK was not able to buy a stake in BG is because they didn't give enough of a "cut" to any one or hundreds of corrupt politicians, officials, union leaders etc., that were running the airline into the ground at the time.
