Crew Bases In SEA?

Sat Jun 02, 2007 1:38 am

Other than AS/QX does any other airline still have a crew base in SEA?

I'm guessing NW and UA do but not 100% sure.

UA does. Flight deck for the 737, 757/767 and 777 along with F/A's.
From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California

But I think we're at some risk of losing it, which will bite because SEA-based UA FAs are the best in my experience.

So if UA has a base how many if any pilots/FA's would be overnight at hotels or does it all depend on the schudele?

We have one three-class 763ER that overnights (comes in from IAD in the evening as UA917 and heads back in the morning as UA916). We also have at least one flight in the morning (6am-7am) heading to ORD, DEN, LAX and SFO. Those are usually a mix of 737s, 757s and Airbuses.

Skywest used to have a base in SEA but they closed it a couple years back. Sometimes I will talk to Non reving UA F/As on my flights...and they say how right now SEA takes 17years to hold a line, so its very senior like their SFO hub.

I believe HA has a pilot base in SEA. HALFA can confirm this.

Pilot bases in SEA:
Alaska
Horizon
United
Northwest
Hawaiian

I don't know about F/A's, other than AS, OX, UA & NW. DL used to, but closed it several years ago.

Until a couple of years ago (while in bankruptcy) HA had pilot bases in HNL, LAX, SFO, and SEA, with F/A's in HNL & LAX. As part of the concessions given during the reorganization, they closed the pilot bases in LAX and SFO, leaving HNL & SEA as the two remaining. The F/A's still have HNL and LAX.

I was interested in that last time I was looking for a new job. But oviously Hawaiian won't be hiring for some time. What is the daily line up from LAX anyway, just out of curiosity. HNL-LAX-LAS-LAX-HNL and a supplemental HNL service?

Hawaiian has actually hired several F/A classes in the last few months. I think it's something close to 100 new hires so far.

The LAX base is still pretty small - they only fly one trip per day, and it is usually two legs per day; LAX-HNL-SJC (or sometimes SFO or SMF), then return thru HNL to LAX the next day. Then some of the LAX F/A's are on reserve for the other trips of the day. (We don't fly LAX-LAS any more - all LAS trips are flown directly out of HNL).

World has a flight attendant base in SEA, I have no idea why we keep it as a base, but rest assured we always have f/a's sitting reserve there.
Nice Trip Report!!! Great Pics, thanks for posting!!!! B747Forever

HA has been hiring huh? I will stick with QX, but I have a friend who is been very interested in getting on at HA. I have never looked at the HA F/A contract...but QX has an absolute great one, and you get to stay close to home!

World has a SEA base? How large?

IIRC, American had a flight attendant base in Seattle that closed shortly after 9/11.

I recall the article in the union magazine titled: "Saionara, Seattle," and had a picture of some SEA-based flight attendants.
