If this is true it is nice to see that ORD may not be loosing another international airline. Will flights to New York also go non-stop?

Why one-stop to NYC at MAN when PK fly to ORD (if true) and Canada from Pakistan? It´s good to see PK use the 77L to the fullest IMO.

Terrorist threat, or what?

Why non nonstop service to JFK from Pakistan ? It would seem to be the higher prioity as JFK is the main destination in the USA for PIA.

Due to CAA/FAA policies, until the Pakistani airports prevent politicians from boarding without going through security, the FAA won't allow nonstop Pakistan-USA flights. However, USA-Pakistan nonstop flights are allowed.

PK wont' be able to fly Pakistan-USA nonstop until the aforementioned situation is solved.

...again, it would be the return leg of the journey, not the inbound.

I would also like to see PK go JFK-Pakistan nonstop also...

PK do have traffic rights on MAN-JFK, but not on ORD-MAN if I remember correctly. Though I doubt MAN-JFK is an important route for them

....respectfully incorrrect Humberside, PK does have ORD-MAN traffic rights...my family have used it a few times, that's how I know... Wink

......the downside is very few passengers take advantage of it however.... Sad

.......PK need to do better marketing on this route....MAN-ORD-MAN is one of BD's most profitable routes

I believe the agreement they have is for a grand total of 5 US services per week and it's up to them how they want to use them.

i might sound a bit pessimistic here but there is no way PIA can even fill up 70% of the flight having the capacity of a B 773ER (370 seats) from ORD nonstop to PAK from mid August till late Nov i.e. in the off season thus making a loss for the airline. this nonstop flight will only be full in the summer peak season i.e. june till early august and thats it.

apart from JFK, no other U.S. city can survive a PIA nonstop flight as there isnt much traffic to warrant it. For ORD, the best solution is twice weekly LHE-MAN-ORD using the B 772ER because majority of the pax disembark in LHE and not KHI. Also via LHE, they can either drive or fly to ISB as well as take a connecting PK KHI bound flight! Plus with the MAN stopover, it will help the flight's economics as there is lot of traffic from MAN to LHE year round which would help support the flight in low season when loads from ORD are vv light.

actually to be frank, if PIA really wanted to make some serious cash on its JFK & ORD flights, then both cities should be routed via DXB as it can carry 5th freedom traffic on that route + no airline flies DXB-ORD nonstop.

Twice a week LHE-DXB-ORD using a B 773ER. Time the DXB-ORD-DXB flight where as upon landing in DXB, pax can connect within 2-4 hours on a PIA A 310 flight bound for KHI & ISB from DXB.

For JFK, it should be thrice a week LHE-DXB-JFK with a B 773ER and twice a week KHI-DXB-JFK using a B 773ER. Why twice a week from KHI? Because there are multiple daily KHI-DXB flights offered by PIA which KHI pax can use to connect with the DXB-JFK flight inbound from LHE!

From what I heard from my Pakistani friends is that that most of the Chicago crowd usually goes to Karachi as they are mostly from that city. I could be wrong but this is what I heard.

I think ORD can use a nonstop. There is enough demand in that city at least with a 777LR.

JFK flights could do non-stop to any Pakistani cities as there is no need to stop in DXB. Demand is enough just JFK-Pakistan.

do they have the fifth freedom rights??If not, how do you know they will get them. Also if they already have the rights, I bet with the hundreds of aircraft emirates is ordering they will be a route to chicago, and even if PK does route it via DXB, my guess is they probably will loose the DXB-USA crowd.

yes PIA has 5th freedom rights on the UAE-USA routes.

not really...PK fly twice a week to Moscow via DXB with 5th freedom rights and pick up a lot of traffic ex DXB so much so that the route was upgraded from an A 310 to a B 772ER for a few months. PIA offers one of the cheapest J and Y class fares on this route.

interesting...however I know for a fact that majority of the IAH-Houston pax are bound for KHI rather than LHE/ISB.

I suggested the stop in DXB to tap an additional source of revenue i.e. 5th freedom especially when loads are really light in the off season.

no there isnt...in the off season, the flight will struggle to even see 50% loads if its a dedicated PAK-ORD-PAK flight. Yes there might be enough demand from ORD and its adjoining areas but not everyone is gonna be flying PIA from ORD to PAK...many will take BA via LHR to ISB, some will take EK via JFK, some take TK via IST and some take QR via Europe.
