RE: LH Longhaul Fleet Configuration

Thank you for sharing this very interesting information with us, Stylo777.

It confirms LH's approach to high-yielding passengers, i.e their 744 Fleet: Out of 30 planes, 19 have the smallest Y-capacity with "only" 234 seats and 96 F&C-Seats.
If this is how it looks today with its Flagship, I wonder how many F- and C- Seats is the A380 going to have with LH.

What's with D-ABVF, D-AIGV and D-AIGY? Maintenance?

Do you know how many A306 will get or are flying with intercont-config. (ABA?)?
Is it the same as the other longhaul aircraft?

Interesting list Stylo.

I have to say, with so many configuration variations LH does tie its hands a little bit incase of delays or aircraft unavailability potentially limiting aircraft substitution options which could cause significant passenger issues when forced to use a version not originally planned.

yes you are right. It happens a lot with the B744 and especially with Business Class pax. Most times we must up- or unfortunately downgrade them, because the scheduled aircraft was the 80th config, but the flying a/c only the 66th config. For those flying in First it is very nice, but those who were involuntary downgraded to Eco could be very bad.

they weren't designated one week ago when I had to put this list together for a firm presentation. I'll update it as soon as possible.

it is not the same. the 54 Business Class seats are the old seats which were taken out of the B744. The Economy seats still remains the same.
A typical configuration for the European A300's (AB6) is 34/237, but this changes often. It depends on the booking numbers in Business class.

No, as LH is capable of reconfiguring the 747s in FRA in about 3 hours and the 346s in about 2.5 hours.
Several of the MUC based 34Q will be converted to 34Ps over the summer.

I thought that was no longer possible with the new C-class, well at least not in such a short time frame.

Good to know, the old Business Class is still around.  Wink At least it's better than the short-haul Business Class for a 4-5 hour flight.
BTW, thanks for all your answers, Stylo777.

Thanks for this - its very useful.

As a regular travelling business class between Frankfurt and India, the new business class seats are excellent. I'm not sure if this was as a result of transitioning as the last few India bounnd fleet, but my boss recently travelled over here (early April) and was in business class in the section of 2-3 rows, just to the right of door 2 and he said he was in the old business class seats, but could see the front two normal business class cabins were the new seats. I've travelled 3 times since then and not seen the old business class there, so is it possible he travelled on a plane that was swapped in with a smaller normal business class than usually seen on the India routes - specifically MAA?

Are there any cabin pics available of these aircraft? Do they have distinctive BC seats or do they just leave every second seat unoccupied as usual (163+2x54 would bring us nicely to LH normal AB6 capacity) ?
