What Is This Building At IND?

Tue Jun 05, 2007 9:20 am

Was just looking at a map of IND and saw this...

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...=0.005777,0.010042&z=17&iwloc=addr

What is this building? Its very large with a large ramp, large parking lot, etc. It even has 2 jetbridges! Its very hard to figure out what it might be from the satellite pic. Anyone have any clue? Obviously its not any kind of public facility... this might be the first time I've ever seen jetbridges on some kind of private structure.

Looks like FedEx to me.

That's UA's former maintenance facility. Don't know the purpose, beyond the obvious, of the jetbridges.

Quoting AirTran737 (Reply 4):

...and the jetbridges seen have since been removed. UA had used them to facilitate line maintenance and make it easier for the flight crews to move aircraft in and out before and after checks and test flights. They were never used very frequently though.

Related news item re the former UA maintenance base at IND. It was closed soon after UA filed Chapter 11.
