Mystery A318 Elite

Thu Jun 07, 2007 12:41 pm

Does anyone know whose Elite this is going to be - who's next in line to receive their first? Is this the livery that NAS or Jet Alliance would use for their birds?

Mystery A318 Elite

Thu Jun 07, 2007 3:25 pm

A month ago I learned that Mexican Tycoon Mr. Jorge Vergara (Omnilife) was about to receive his ACJ directly from Tolouse. I wonder if this may be it. Althought if this is it, its livery is very dull and boring (yet elegant) when comparing it to its predecesor BBJ "Nilambara".

Why is Vergara replacing his old BBJ with a new A318?

The BBJ was sold in 2005 in a very profitable operation (Vergara Style) and temporarily replaced by a G-IV.

Could be, or it could also be the original ACJ (A319-based).

I found colour schemes of the A318's charter company customers on Airbus' website, and these suggest the subject a/c is not theirs.....

.....unless NAS plans a different livery from the ACJ for their Elites.

The Elite would have to be especially modified to do MEX-LCY nonstop.

AFAIK. He got a very good deal with Airbus too.

Aside from gaining on the exchange, he might've needed less space than the BBJ but more than the G-IV. Perhaps, he'd use the Elite if he wants more capacity on shorter trips, and the Gulfstream for long distance business.

Not saying that couldn't change, mind. Paying a huge sum of money, the client could always prefer to fly on something anonymous and less obviously "rented" - one which would convey "ownership" or individuality.

Which begs the question - "Where is their first Elite?" IIRC, their earlier order is for an ACJ.

Jet Alliance purchased 1 A318 Elite on June 16th, 2006, followed by an order for 2 additional ones on March 26th, 2007.
However, no A318 has been delivered yet to Jet Alliance.

Raising the possibility that this enigmatic Elite is for them (post that it's for Comlux notwithstanding). That premise however, brings up a couple of questions. Could they get their order in a year (June 2006-present) ahead of (assuming later delivery was not specified) NAS, a launch customer for this variant? And again, the issue of a different livery (inconclusive, admittedly) than was previously presented?.....

Curious that this and the previous press releases did not indicate a delivery date.....
