ENGINE ALLIANCE SHIPS FIRST PRODUCTION ENGINES TO AIRBUS

The Engine Alliance has shipped the first set of four GP7200 production engines to Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, where they will be installed on the first A380 aircraft for Emirates. The engines were trucked from Pratt & Whitney’s Middletown Engine Center, where final assembly and test were completed, to Bradley Airport for loading an Antonov cargo aircraft.

The GP7200 has completed the majority of the A380 flight test requirements and recently completed noise certification testing in Morón de la Frontera, Spain.

MSN9, the GP7200-powered flight test aircraft, will be featured at the Paris Air Show in June where it will make daily demonstration flights.

The GP7200-powered A380 is on track to receive Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) airworthiness certifications in December.

In addition to Emirates, the GP7200 engine has been selected by Air France, Korean Airlines and International Lease Finance Corporation to power their A380s.

No. If you read the article carefully it says that the EA 72000 engine was shipped on an Antonov.  Wink

Can the Antonov can carry all four engines in one flight with ease?
Can you say 'Beer Can' without sounding like a Jamaican saying 'Bacon'?
