Flying From DEL To SFO On An ACJ 319- Route?

Fri Jun 08, 2007 7:56 pm

Hi all:

I am taking the example of Dr. Vijay Mallya the owner of Kingfisher and Kingfisher Airlines. What i find intruiging is that one day he is in DEL or BOM and the next day hes in SFO in his private ACJ (VT-VJM). What i want to know is how long would a flight say from DEL to SFO take. How many stopd would u have to make on the way to SFO.

Would you fly east wards or westwards? Can the ACJ fly over the Pacific ocean? Do private planes have ETOPS requirements?

regards

I am not an aviation expert, but as i know the answer is NO the private jest do not follow any ETOPS

but it is a very long journey, i don't think he would be happy spending 18hours+ on A319, he should take on of his 77W or A332 , or buy B748 for his personal use  Wink

FYI.. A319CJ have a max 11 or 12 hour endurance i believe. As there is a route with Privatair/Lufthansa between Germany and the USA with A319CJ to EWR and ORD from DUS and MUC.
Last flights: LH 3738 MUC - ZRH , LH 3749 ZRH - MUC . Upcoming: EK 50 MUC - DXB 3-aug. and EK 322 DXB - ICN 7- Aug.

Naresh Goyal owns 9W (a predominantly Boeing fleet) and Vijay Mallya owns IT (Airbus fleet)...  smile

Question: if he flew eastbound (via China, Russia, Alaska, Washington state) would the plane need to be ETOPS? The only over-water crossing could feasibly be the Bering Strait.
