New Swedish Airline - Fly Excellent, Receives AOC

Sat Jun 09, 2007 11:21 pm

A new Swedish charter airline has received it's Air Operator Certificate. They have one MD-83 in a VIP- config with 104 seats as that plane was originally intended for Real Madrid. They will get a second MD-83 with 165 passengers soon.

Here are some pictures for you all to enjoy.

Thats great news.
Another MD-80 operator in Sweden. Hurray.
Nothing against MD-80 , its a great plane, but every single airline here has them.
The livery looks ok, but 165 seats sound cramped. Will they keep the 104 config of their first plane , or wil they change that to 165 aswell???

All the luck to Fly Excellent.

It seems that there aren't too many 'normal' names left  Wink

Lack of creativity or imagination. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting an airline whose name either starts or ends with "fly".
My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

You have to say it like you were a swede. (Almost like the Swedish chef in the Muppet show) Then it makes more sense  Smile

Hehe. I felt the same way in Norway, when SAS was the dominant player with DC-9's and MD-80. Now that all we have left is 737 in different sizes, we miss those MD-80

They will keep that 104 config as a VIP wet lease airplane.

Hehe. When I say it with a Swedish tone it sounds better than with an English tone  Smile It might be a dry norse joke, but I can still here the sound of it. That being said IMO Fly excellent is much better than Skybus...

I tend to believe that this has something to do with a company with Air... in its name? But the SkyBus is not a revolutionary name. It resembles the Airbus name too much. But this is a new topic. I like the SkyBus concept, and believe they can do it.

According to the press release Real Madrid had payed for the conversion of the plane. I do not know why Real Madrid ended up not taking that plane. Perhaps they bought another plane instead.

Indeed. Fly Excellent? Well, hopefully you will, but isn't it like calling a restaurant "good food" or something? anyway. Horrible name.

Indeed. But I get the feeling we're talking another airline ending its short life on a tarmac somewhere in Greece where its planes are being held back by angry creditors. Do we have any FlyMe-people involved in this...????  worried

This airline is a wet lease charter operator and will not fly routes on regular basis like FlyMe did. Since there is alot of pressure in aviation, and the airlines rarely have an airplane to spare, the wet lease market (at least for now) seems very lucrative.

GoodJet (Bra Jet)

Fly Excellent (Flyg Jättebra)

I think this is a lower risk than starting up a revenue airline. Wet lease and charter operations seems like a good idea at the moment.

Actually, I have to correct you and say that if this was an english airline, the version would be something along the lines of:

Fly ok, though don't get too excited.

(Its illegal for anyone english to get even slightly cheerful, though complaining is encouraged)

Fly with moderate satisfaction.

Fly mediocre.
Work Hard/Fly Right.

Here's another picture of her, photographed March 30 this year, parked at a remote ramp at ARN:
