A small aircraft had a landing gear collapse.
It sure as hell wasn't small for SBA
, it was a Falcon 900.
Anyway, my uncle at SBA
ATCT called me to tell me about the incident and it has been a mess for SBA
. The Falcon ended up in the swamp at the end of the main runway (7/25), which also happens to be the only runway with an ILS. Last I heard, the aircraft is still stuck there, but no one on the plane was hurt. That is rather important because SBA
has had cloud cover all day, which means very few aircraft have been able to land, let alone all the take off issues for RJs going anywhere of any measurable distance.
Apparently the plane never even hit V1, which screams gear collapse as there is no way the plane was too heavy.
