I haven't heard about any incidents at SBA but nearby at Santa Ynez Airport (KIZA) a Piper Comanche had a gear problem and landed on its belly today. Santa Barbara County Fire responded so some news reports may have the location wrong.

Several UAX flights and at least one Horizon flight were cancelled into SBA. Interesting.

There was an ATCSCC message out for an incident at SBA earlier this afternoon, but another messages saying ops were back to normal came out with 5-10 minutes, so whatever it was wasn't a terribly major deal...

A small aircraft had a landing gear collapse. The main runway was taken out of use for some time. The shorter runway was not affected, but that inhibited airline traffic as it is just over 4000ft. AA Eagle canceled a couple of LAX-SBA flights and the DFW-SBA CRJ (AA 3493) diverted to LAX.
See, I knew American Eagle was first class all along!

Looks like it is hitting the news services now.

A Falcon heading for Tampa went into the overrun area on takeoff.

Interesting day, problems at both KSBA and KIZA.

Quoting DFW13L (Reply 4):

It sure as hell wasn't small for SBA, it was a Falcon 900.

Anyway, my uncle at SBA ATCT called me to tell me about the incident and it has been a mess for SBA. The Falcon ended up in the swamp at the end of the main runway (7/25), which also happens to be the only runway with an ILS. Last I heard, the aircraft is still stuck there, but no one on the plane was hurt. That is rather important because SBA has had cloud cover all day, which means very few aircraft have been able to land, let alone all the take off issues for RJs going anywhere of any measurable distance.

Apparently the plane never even hit V1, which screams gear collapse as there is no way the plane was too heavy.
