Odd Choice Of Aircraft Livery For FCA/UA Start

Mon Jun 11, 2007 12:27 pm

On June 6 United started serving FCA (using Skywest CRJ's) and for the first arrival FCA threw a party to commemeorate the new service inviting local VIP's and the media. When the RJ showed up it was in Skywest's generic paint instead of their United connection paint. So most people thought it was a Delta flight like all the other skywest RJ's they see everyday.

My question is who decides what aircraft to send on an inagural flight and shouldn't some priority be given to one that would help the marketing?

It is the decision of the Dispatchers at the company operating the flight.

agreed, pretty poor planning.

We thought it was pretty funny that, while waiting on the tarmac for the first SX flight to BLI, the 25th Anniversary QX D400 pulled up. Coincidence? I think not Big grin

If memory serves, Southwest did something similar when Alaska rolled out its Salmon-Thirty-Salmon livery; they sent three Shamus up to Seattle that day...  Silly
