AC 777-300 Engines

Wed Jun 13, 2007 4:22 am

What are the engines on AC's new 777-300? AC857 just flew past my house into YYZ on final approach from LHR and I could barely hear it. My patio door was closed and I did not hear it until it was almost directly overhead. This is the quietest AC aircraft ever.

Hi!

Given the fact that the Air Canada 777s are 777-300ERs there is only one choice for the engines:
General Electric GE90-115B.

And yes, these engines are very quiet.

GreetZ,
Jan

PS: Later this month, AC will also get the 77L also with GE90s (110B)

Are GE90-115Bs considered Stage III or Stage IV?

The three AC 777 now fly over my house almost daily. It is a very quiet low sounding noise. I can now pick it out by the sound now. AC's 330 sound much different and are slightly louder.

That was an amazing video not so much for the sounds of the engines (although very, very cool) but for showing the force of lift. You can totally see the wing of the aircraft literally lift it off the ground! The bend on these wings is amazing!I don't think I've ever seen it quite like that before. I cannot wait to get on AC's new metal. Thanks for the cool video!

Are you sure about that??

GE's press release stated all of AC"s B777 will come equipped with -115Bs. Boeing does offer the -115b on the LR's.

Hi KrisYYZ,

as of AC's website they are now GE90-110B1's.
For a long time AC stated the engines for the 77L as GE90-115B, but now it has changed.
But it is right that you can get the -115Bs on the 77L.

Do you know if AC B77L's are coming with all of the additional fuel tanks offered by boeing? Some AC insiders have said on here that AC just copy and pasted the tech info on the B777 from the boeing website, do you know if any airlines flying the B777L have chosen the -115b?

IIRC, the AC 77L won't have the all the additional fueltanks. But, perhaps I'm not correctly informed.
Yes, the tech info on AC's website looks very similar to Boeing's  Wink

No, all 77L orders yet are with 110Bs.
