Its a nice airplane but...will someone come outside the box and have a green, red, blue, yellow, black, fuselage??? The all whites are getting so boring. I hope AA can hold on to its livery by the skin of their teeth!

I tend to agree. I still, however, remember how neat it was when airlines were finally doing something different besides cheatline stripes...I now long to have those days back.

What are Lion Air's expansion plans with the 739ER's?

Ther website says "Lion Air will soon be flying extensively throughout the Asia Pacific Region."

Anyone know what destinations that will include?

For now, the aircraft are deployed on the airline's domestic network, and I am really sceptic as to the chances of this airline's building an extesive regional network in the Asia-Pacific with its 739ER fleet. The airline's reputation is tainted by shabby service and a string of earlier incidents with the MD80 fleet. The airline did also announce plans for 6 of the 739ER to be configured in a 90-seat all business configuration for high frequency shuttle flights between its Jakarta homebase and both Singapore and Surabaya. Also this announcement is highly incredible: the airline has previously tried to operate a business class product and has failed miserably and, as for Singapore, it has reduced its initial schedule of 4 daily connections to just a single daily flight, because of stiff competition of SQ, GA and a host of other airlines on the route.

That was surprising to read in Boeing's press release that Lion Air is Asia's largest LCC. I would have guessed perhaps AirAsia.

I tend to be sceptical about Lion Air doing a good job with these new toys, however I give them credit for trying and hope that with the introduction of this marvelous 737 a new era will start. Higher safety standards, better service and leaving behind everything bad that unfortunately now seem to have tied to the brand name and the Indonesian aviation as a whole...  Sad

I really wish them all the best, and great to see the 739ER program on the roll  bigthumbsup

If AA gets 787's, the polished aluminum is going to be a bit of a problem considering the amount of composites. I wonder if they would do what they did with the A300's (when they were painted)?

Totally agree. Even if they went for the inverse scheme, white titles and logo out of red fuselage (like on the engine cowlings), it would have been so much more eye catching.

Great that the most populace SE Asian nation has a LCC with new aircraft and bold plans.
