Official: Airbus Le Bourget 2007 Order Thread

Sun Jun 17, 2007 10:23 pm

The much awaited 47th Paris Airshow is upon us and we have decided it would be appropriate to run 3 Official threads on the major LoI / MoU / Order announcements and one for any engine selections announced.

This thread is for Airbus announcements below is a link to the Airbus Event Site and Press Release Site http://www.airbus.com;

http://www.airbus.com/en/myairbus/events/ and http://www.airbus.com/en/presscentre/pressreleases/

We ask that you refer to the following 2 links for Boeing and Powerplants

Official: Boeing Le Bourget 2007 Order Thread

Official: Le Bourget 2007 Engine Order Thread

The purpose of these three threads is to keep a daily tabulation on any announcements made and to keep seperate each companies announcements. Though we understand there will be split orders, having the official threads should make it a lot easier to track orders for each OEM and make for a good reference for the future of the site.

We do realise that there may / will be major "mega orders" announced given speculation over the past six months and recent media reports. Therefore, if an order is announced and listed here, for example, by a U.S. Legacy carrier, a new A380 Operator, a European Major or by a carrier of regional or strategic importance, it should be entitled to it's own seperate thread, we ask that order be posted here with a link to the relevent thread and a link back to this thread, that way a free and open discussion can be had on AA, EK, LA or whomever, without overwhelming the official threads.

Commitments and orders listed here can be added to 2007 Orders: Part 2 or to the relevent country thread for some carriers, for example Malaysian Aviation Thread 4 In relation to the country threads there are plenty of "lurkers" who know a lot but post only in those threads as their posts don't warrant a seperate thread. We all can benefit from that input.

In relation to Regional orders such as ATR, Bombardier, Embraer and Sukhoi etc or any developments of new frames or further news of R&D in existing projects please feel free to go ahead and post as normal.

Any enquiries please direct to moderators@airliners.net on behalf of the Moderating Crew we thank you for your assistance. It's a good week for aviation, let's make it a good week for the Forum

Qatar Airways confirms order for 80 A350 XWBs and adds three A380s

18 June 2007

Qatar Airways has signed a contract for the purchase of 80 of the all-new Airbus A350 XWB aircraft and also placed an order for a further three A380s, bringing their total order for the type to five. The agreement was signed at the 47th International Paris Air Show at Le Bourget between Akbar Al-Baker, Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer and Louis Gallois Airbus President and CEO. This follows on an initial agreement announced in May.

The 80 A350 XWBs include 20 A350 XWB-800s, 40 A350 XWB-900s and 20 of the largest in the family, the A350 XWB-1000. Deliveries will begin from 2013. Qatar Airways will use the A350 XWBs to complement and subsequently replace its A330s on regional and long haul routes.

Let's not forget there's still nothing official on the US A350 order. The links provided so far are only rumors, so let's not jump to conclusions just yet.

Edit: Scratch that: DeltaL1011man's post appeared while I was writing mine. Great news for Airbus indeed!

This transaction sets the stage for the next generation of the US Airways fleet, which will be among the youngest and most efficient in the U.S. airline industry. By my rough calculation that's 194 (not counting 20 of the US A350s as they are conversions) frames announced - that almost doubles the order total for 2007 - it's looking a better year for AB!

It was widely reported that deals around for 300 aircraft would be signed this week. With Airbus' 215 orders today, that leaves around Airbus only needing to attain another 85 themselves to reach that figure, let alone what Boeing acheive. It really seems that this could be a bumper Airshow.

Nouvelair - 2 x A320

Total = 218 (but is reduced by 20 for US' previous firm order for A350), meaning 198 new orders.

I just caught the end of the latest conference - I heard 12 A350XWBs. Is this ALAFCO "converting" their original A350 order?

QR - 3 x A320, 80 x A350, 3 x A380
EK - 8 x A380
US - 60 x A32x, 10 x A330, 22 x A350
Jazeera - 30 x A320
Nouvelair - 2 x A320
GECAS - 60 x A32x
ALAFCO - 12 A350s, 7 A32x (I'm assuming a straight XNB to XWB conversion here)

Total = gross 307 net 275
