Midwest 924 SFO-MKE Burning Fuel Off...

Mon Jun 18, 2007 10:25 am

It appears Midwest 924 is currently off the San Francisco coast burning off fuel. Obviously some issues onboard requiring a return to SFO. Anyone have some info?

Down safely but never heard what the problem was.

A rescue truck did report "nothing leaking".

Did they say anything on NorCal?

Sounds like another busted MD-80 engine...that's a few problems with those birds in the last week.

Anyone have further information? I could only find one article, in French, and it doesn't add much to what is already known.

It looks like the flight was delayed for 3 hours before attempting the trip.

The "suspects" here would be either (1) one of the hydraulic systems failed or (2) an engine had to be shutdown for loss of oil pressure/quantity or some other parameter. Doesn't sound too serious, in that they fixed whatever it was--they sure didn't change an engine in 3 hours...  Wink
