Which explains why both JFK-FCO (DL148, DL160) flights did not operate yesterday...

State Farm surely didn't give each employee their own 767.  Silly

There were also USAirways charter flight #'s going MSP-PIT yesterday, an A319, I assume repositioning from a charter they had already done. What was that all about?

I actually know the captain on one of the flights. He lives in the Quad Cities and flew out of MLI yesterday going to MSP. He said from there he was going to FCO, so I bet that's one of his flights. Although I could have sworn he said something about the Minnesota Vikings, but I may have misheard him.

They awarded their TOP employees, not just two of them, with a vacation. Read the article you referenced.

I was about to point this out myself. If state farm gave 2 familes vacations with their own private 767 that'd be a whole other story. Big grin
Good Luck to all Skyway Pilots! It's been great working with you!

Did WORLD AIRWAYS lose this business back to Delta? I thought that in the last two years, where they did this charter program, they impressed State Farm with their service and flexibility. What happened?

Hi Tornado! You're right. It was a full flight, with 209 pax o/b. One of the flights I was able to trace as DL9838, operated by ship # 1606. The 2nd one I just couldn't find!
By the way this is my first post here, I'm lovin it!  Smile

I did pick up the typo (two employees vs. to employees on the topic starter) but it still does not change my mind about insurance rates...What was the expense of that trip with meals and lodging thrown in??? Anyone care to guess??? approx. 400 plus people! Once again, now I know why insurance rates are so sky high!!!

I'd say about US$ 65,000.00 per leg, to break even, therefore DL should have charged a couple thousand dollars more than that!
But that's just my 2 cents, could be more or less than this! Besides, I don't know if they carried any cargo on these flights.
On a side note, when you pull out the flt on the computer, you'll see that it shows 209 Y seats, however this jet is configured 35J/174Y (plus 1J for pilot rest and 4Y for F/A rest). Makes me wonder who took the B/E seats! First come, first take it? Or "let the bosses seat on the front"  Smile

The were both yesterday, June 18th. Here they come:

FLT ORIG DEP OUT OFF DEST SKIN ETA IN
DL 9834 MSP 1720 1736 1802 FCO 0955 1032 1024

It had 205 pax o/b and the ship is 181

DL 9838 MSP 1835 1844 1908 FCO 1110 1134 1135
It had 209 pax o/b (packed!!) and the ship is 1606

Both have been sitting on the ground in FCO since early in the morning today, that[s probably why you can't find them on flightaware!

Best,
Carlos

Vacation? Meh, this seems like more of a field trip for insurance adjusters to me with the traffic and driving habits of the Romans! Big grin

Next thing we'll hear is that Cargill will charter a few jets for "winners" of a getaway trip to Des Moines.  Wink

World couldn't get the slots needed to operate the charters. They will however operate one from Baltimore next Monday 6-25.

Thanks for the prompt info! Is that because of restrictions at Rome? Or is it because they are too busy doing military work? I just wasn't clear about what "slots" were involved. TIA. Thanks again.

Rome restrictions. Landing times had to be built around the departure of the cruise ship the passengers are getting on. World was unable to secure acceptable times for multiple operations. Delta was able to make adjustments to their schedule to make it work.

Actually my rates are cheap as dirt with them, speeding tickets, a few fender benders and all. Others in the Twin Cities here can not compare.
