Although four of the most likely suspects have fairly new VVIP 744s, I wouldn't put it past them ordering the "Flying Palace" just to have the ultimate bragging right.

This question pops in my mind, where could you go with a private A380, ? I mean the handling can only be done at a limited number of airports ( 30-40?).

anyhow, I hope it's Saad Co. , then it will have one very nice paint

The two most visited airports for the potential customer would be Nice and Geneva for the week-end shoppings..

Saudi Royal Flight are a good bet as is Kingdom Holdings

Bahrain has newly delivered B747-400, Oman has same

Dubai would take one of EK's

Abu Dhabi could take one of EY's deferred order

Oman has a B747-400

Kuwait maybe ?

I seriously doubt it is the Saudi Royal Fleet. They've only recently pinched a 744 from SV to convert into VIP configuration. It will become the new HM1 .

I may have blinked during the Airbus order orgy at Paris, but I haven't seen any official confirmation that a firm order for 1 A380VIP has been placed.

No Way its Roman Abramovich.

Roman Abramovich is a rich man and everything but, he cannot fit that plane in most of the runways he uses.

He is not the owner of SIBNEFT anymore.

His primary holding is EVRAZ Steel and his company only owns 43% of it.

The 767 fits everywhere he needs it to.

Can a A380 fly into LUTON?

Weight, gates.

The A380 uses less runway than a 744, but some taxiway turns might present some challenges.

The pavement loading of the A380 is less, I believe, than a 773ER due to the greater number of wheels.

A VIP A380 is unlikely to use a normal gate on a terminal.

These factors are unlikely to restrict a VIP A380 in the real World.

A380 can land anywhere a B747 can.

But they can't necessarily maneuver on taxiways or ramps which is why quite a few airports to be served by the A380 have been spending a lot of money widening taxiways, ramps, reducing situations where sharp turns are needed etc.

If that's accurate, then the unidentified A380 completion that LT is bidding hard for and confident of winning must be for him .....

http://www.flightglobal.com/articles...14977/waiting-for-super-jumbo.html

Quote:
"Indeed, so keen is the company on the big bird that it is also bidding hard for the multi-million-dollar job of completing the first VIP A380 – an airframe is rumoured to have been already earmarked for a customer.

'As we speak, there’s a team from our Innovation Centre taking detailed measurements inside the cabin so we can design carefully targeted noise-reduction measures for the VIP version,' Henningsen told Flight Daily News aboard a route-proving flight to New York JFK earlier this year. 'I’m confident we’ll win this work if an airframe becomes available at the right time,' he confided."

Here's a wild speculation. Although it doesn't jive with their political doctrine, what if China thought they're so rich and powerful now they deserved one? Certainly, it could be seen as projecting the "right image" and the heights of success in the "Workers' Paradise"? And might also entice EADS to share more in the development of their aerospace industry. However, it would first have to overcome the innate frugality and pragmatism of the Chinese.

Mystery Buyer:

Quote:
Russian billionaire and owner of Chelsea FC Roman Abramovich is thought to be the 'mystery buyer' of an Airbus A380 superjumbo, reported the UK's Daily Mirror. Airbus Sales Director John Leahy cryptically revealed last week at the Paris Air Show that the buyer was not from the US or Europe and there was much speculation that the customer could come from the Middle East.
