Fare Question?!

Thu Jun 21, 2007 10:53 am

Hey I have a question about a fare. I am traveling from Baton Rouge to Dallas Ft Worth and the fare seems to be $258.00 Does that seem like a cheap/reasonable fare for that route, or too much?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Is that for round trip or one way? Around what dates? Why not fly out of MSY?

Cheapest round-trip fare (before taxes) I see on BTR-DFW is $208, which would probably be about $258 after taxes. Makes sense too; no competition on this route for AA (CO, NW and DL publish fares via their hubs), but with the non-stop on AA being the only real option (about an hour-long flight), AA will up the prices in this market to maximize profit.

Dates I used were for late July and are the published fares. I doubt that the fare goes any lower than what it's showing right now. Grab it while it's there.

If you were to drive the extra couple of miles down to MSY you could save $50 ... I'm seeing the lowest price MSY-DFW is $206 (taxes & fees included) and the lowest non-stop at $210.

Found this on Orbitz, because I don't want to spend any more time on it, but I bet you can find an even better deal directly through the airline or something.

Hope this helps.

The lowest r/t fare in the past year was around $120 (see FareCompare http://history.farecompare.com/fare-...ation=DFW&back=365&advPurchase=180)

I'd use the FareCompare engine to find the best pricing and trip options if you are a value traveler.

You might also want to look at MSY-DAL on WN.

Since you are a student, have you checked student fares like at STA Travel?
