Today, is the inaugural flight of American's new 737-823 aircraft from ORD-LAX. Also, the 777-323 starts new service on the DFW-LGW.

Is LAX-ORD going to be it's constant route?
What aircraft is it replacing on that route?
Am I going to have a good chance of seeing
it at SNA? Are they going to replace some of
the MD80 routes with the 737800's?

That's right. The first 737-800 makes inaugural flight from ORD and IAD to LAX and the first 777 makes inaugural flight from DFW to LGW tonite. It's a 777-223, not 323. American has not ordered any 777-300's.
I would be curious to see what the new interiors look like. I love American Airlines, I've been flying with them for years.
AA's fleet will consist of the following 7 types in the year 2005 and beyond:
A300
B737-800
B757
B767
B777
F100
MD80
