Kingfisher 727 At OAK (6/23/07)

Sun Jun 24, 2007 3:05 pm

I'll make this short & sweet and right down to the point.

This afternoon I was on the Metropolitan Golf Links course which is adjacent to the main road that leads to the maiin terminal at OAK. I guess it was the 5th or 6th hole, I can't remember, but I saw a 727 parked on the general aviation ramp where all the small lightweight A/C are parked as well as the business jets and what-not. The 727 was painted in Kingfisher's livery. I have no idea what a Kingfisher A/C would be doing at OAK unless the airline acquired it from someone here and had it painted and worked on or if it's some type of special charter perhaps. If I had my camera I would have taken some picstures of it but I had a very busy day and we had to leave rather early from Mill Valley to get to the gol course b/c of the bad traffic going through Berkley and Alameda along 580.

So why would a Kingfisher 727 be here? Why does Kingfisher even have a 727?

The 727 looked just like this...

Maybe the head honcho was flying into the Bay Area, and landed the plane at OAK .
Doesn't he live in Sausilito or something?

Yah, It's Vijay Mallya's personal aircraft. So, he's had it repainted in Kingfisher colors like his ACJ (which I think is in for mods so probably why he's using the 727), I had thought he got rid of it.

Here's N727VJ at San Antonio Aerospace, 6/22/07. Departed SAT the next day for OAK.
Sorry about the fence, but there is all kinds of construction going on all over and around
this airport. I had stick my lense through one fense to get this shot from a temporary cell-
phone lot.

Not criticizing the post, just think your initial statment followed by the details of your day is a bit ironic...  laughing
