I have a question for the rampers or airline management that frequent the forum. Im currently awaitng medical clearance from the FAA to resume flight training ( type 2 diabetes), and I was wondering if there are any ramp job openings anywhere in the US? I have tried to look on most of the airline web sites, but none showed ramp slots open. Any insiders know of any? Thanks in advance.
I appreciate the info , im gonna do some more research. I have worked the ramp before, but in the city I was currently residing in. Im planning on relocating to a city with both a job opening and a decent flight training center nearby ( FBO or an actual school ). I guess I should have put that in the original post. My other question is, do the airlines frown apon or outright dismiss resumes based on a relocation?
Come to Seattle.... QX is hiring rampers like crazy (we are understaffed in SEA as it is), and they are offering bonuses if you stay for a certian amount of time. Plus, there are several great FBOs that give flight training, from Galvin and Wings Aloft at BFI, to Regal and Northway at PAE, plus several other FBOs at PWT, TIW, 1S0, and other GA airfields...
Let me know if you want more information, and I will get you the contact number for our recruiters at QX.
FL in BWI and MDW were looking last time I checked. You may also want to look at the express operators at various cities as sometimes they do work their own flights. Example: in PHL Piedmont works all the express flights except the 170/190 ones for US and US mainline works all the mainline ones so you would have 2 options there if they were hiring. I have a few friends who work in PHL for Express and they are saying they can't keep people and are always hiring there.
Quoting JBLUA320 (Reply 3): I'm pretty sure NW has been hiring on the ramp.
I saw some ads that they were hiring for DTW. One of the postings was for baggage handlers. One thing I though odd about the ad was it said they you may have to seven stories up outside . What exactly would a baggage handler do that would require him/herto be seven stories up? Every baggage handler I ever saw was on the ground or in a plane.
Thanks everyone for the heads up. Kris that sounds good, if you don't mind getting the recruiters info that would be great. I'd also like to lookinto Vegas, but my luck there hasn't been all that great lol.
