Anyone know what flights will be operated out of S3? If the A380 is going to be docked there, I would imagine it is intercontinental oriented and not Schengen or domestic.

Have they made sure that the ceiling will hold...?

I will be at CDG in two weeks on AF from the US. Is there a chance that AF's New York flights would arrive at that new terminal?

I'll be flying AF intercontinental into CDG this weekend, with Europe connections. Would be nice to not have to come into 2E/F or the rest of the alphabet soup at CDG. But I'm not too optimistic about not getting the bus ride. If has any merit, I'll post. Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to my pate and champagne (although a sauterne would be preferred...) at 35000 feet, with Edith Piaf singing through my Bose.

S3 will operate, in a first phase, about 10 daily flights to the US, moving up to 30 daily flights to the US, Asia and Africa some time in July. A second phase is scheduled for October, with the last phase at the end of December. When it is completed in December, S3 will accomodate about 65 daily flights, both medium-haul and long-haul flights, with some of the gates on the West side being able to accomodate both, boarding medium-haul flights from the upper level, and long-haul flights from the main floor. Some time between January and March 2008, the moving walkways linking S3 to 2F will become operational.

Can anyone show where this new terminal is in CDG?

CDG is a mess, IMO, they need better connectivity between terminals and 2A definitely needs an overhaul, its quite dilapidated, i hope these new terminals will help when connecting flights to and from India and the US.

AF has announced that it will cease operations in 2A & 2B by Summer 2008. This could come earlier for 2A, sometime during winter. Ultimately, AF will also leave 2C & 2D, with the hub revolving around the TGV station, 2E, 2F, S3, S4 and 2G.

is there any information yet how 2G is going to be connected to 2E/2F? I thought the LISA train would be extended but on the animation linked by Jouy31 it doesn't look so.... I hope it's not going to be by landside bus solely?  Confused  Angry

So who will operate from 2A,2B, 2C and 2D in the end? Will AF solely be using the new extensions?

I 'm sure we will have to use the buses to connect between all these new terminals do the union's and the amount of power they have.

Unfortunately, nothing has been confirmed regarding the original plan of extending CDGVAL by a landside line going Eastward between 2E and 2F, to S3, S4 and S3N (the former plan for 2G), paralleling LISA (airside) between S3 and S4. The current official plans involve landside transfer by buses to/from 2G.

Desiguy2447, you should do a small amount of research beforehand. Most of the bus transport at CDG is outsourced to a number of different private companies and the unions do not have that much power over such operations. Witness the new VAL that links T1, the central RER station and T2 in a very efficient and quick manner - with no employee on board operating the thing. Nobody went on strike following the implementation of that.

In all likelihood, there will be some sort of underground extension for an automated link to 2G. 2G will probably be accessible directly with check-in counters. Does not seem to be the case for S3 and S4 with check-in being done in T2E or T2F.

Ok... sounds weird (not to mention ridiculous) they won't open the moving walkways for this inauguration since S3 is ALSO the boarding and disembarking concourse for terminal 2F...
At least, will the LISA system be working to link 2E to S3 avoiding US passengers having the infamous bus ride ?

Anyway, this is a good move to make CDG a better hub airport as a passenger point of view... Will be there beginning of July, will post de TR if indeed I disembark and board through S3...

It is my understanding that S3 will not be used as a boarding and disembarking concourse for 2F ... until the 600m long moving walkways are operational. I guess airside connecting passengers may have to use the airside buses.

Regarding LISA, it should be operational tomorrow . Transfer time is 45s, and max wait time is 2mn.

I would expect them to become operational at the same time as Terminal 2E becomes fully operational again.... until then I'd assume S3 will be used as main boarding area for 2E (hopefully with the closing of Satellite H happening soon)

some information from the according thread at FT:

Quoting Jouy31:

According to a thread on a French forum, www.voyageforum.com, the following flights currently depart from S3 :

- AF004 CDG JFK
- AF006 CDG JFK
- AF008 CDG JFK
- AF010 CDG JFK
- AF012 CDG JFK
- AF022 CDG JFK

- AF036 CDG IAH
- AF038 CDG IAH

- AF322 CDG BOS
- AF332 CDG BOS

- AF442 CDG GIG

The information reportedly comes from the AF Pro web site, accessible to travel agents.

I suppose the related incoming flights also use S3.
