Big Airlines At UK Regional (non LON) Airports

Wed Jun 27, 2007 2:12 am

The growth of airlines to UK regional airports is quite strong with EK flying from DXB to BHX, GLA, NCL, MAN and others and SQ flying to MAN there are good alternatives when going East, also Qatar Airways and Etihad to MAN

Similarly there flights to the USA on CO, AA and US Airways from the regions.

These airlines avoid the need to go to via LON, will this growth to the regions seriously affect BA?

I would suggest looking at the CAA Pax figures for flights into LHR. Also look how LHR is performing, that could give you an answer.

Not forgetting the AMS/CDG/FRA links as well. AY offering what appear to be good deals on thier new services ex-HEL - I'd love to know what proportion of their MAN pax are going long-haul! LH stated a couple of years ago that 10% of thier MAN pax were going business class long-haul (roughly 40,000 per year).
