Need Help With IAH...

Wed Aug 09, 2000 5:01 am

In October, I am going to IAH to spot some planes. Also, to walk around and see the airport. However, I can't seem to find any airport maps or info of IAH. Does anyone know where I can find maps to print off the internet? Thanks very much!!

The best spotting at IAH is between 2 and 6, when most of the international airlines takeoff and land. I know that KLM leaves around 3:30, and Air France leaves around 4:30.

Continental has a fairly detailed map of their gates at the airport... follow the links at continental.com

Try the roof tops of the parking garages at all the terminals (A in particular). You can take the inter terminal train (on the lower level) to move commute between the terminals and then take the elevators straight up to the roof. There are also a couple of spots around the airport if you have a car. This link might give you a bit more info ...

Hi,

Thanks for the info. Do you know what runway most international flights depart of? (747's, 777's, etc.)

Thanks!

I connected in IAH in August of last year. I found a nice map on http://www.trip.com. There is not very good viewing in Terminal C, the continental planes block the view of the runway pretty much but it is not a long walk from the Mickey Leland International Arrivals Building, where you can view international flights.

International arrivals typically take place on 27L. I think there is a spot on Lee Road on the apporach end of this runway. You can also watch the planes taxi to the terminal from 27L from atop terminal D's parking garage. I've seen departures take place on 27R as well as 14L (i think thats correct). You can watch these departures from terminal A or from Rankin Road. I'm sure there is someone around here from Houston who can shed some more light ...

Heres another link that I think will help
