Why The Massed Saudi Aircraft In Warsaw On Monday?

Wed Jun 27, 2007 6:49 pm

While connecting through Warsaw on monday evening I noticed a massive concentration of Saudi aircraft parked there. I've seen plenty of Saudi royal flight aircraft at airports in the past, but i was staggered by just howe many there were on this occasion.

Parked up in Saudi Arabian colours were a 747SP, a 747-400 and a 757. A Saudi government 737 in white and green colours was there, as was the private 777 (N777AW) and a private A330 in the same colours. There were more Saudi aircraft than LOT aircraft around the apron  Wow!

So naturally I'm curious why they were there ? State visit? If so that was a lot of aircraft for a state visit.

Anyone able to shed any light on this?

In-fact it was a state visit by His Majesty King Abdalla of Saudi Arabia, as the visit is to strenght the economic ties between the two countries, many businessmen would be involved in this. As you know Saudi Arabia is the number 1 oil producer & exporter in the world, and Warsaw is a very important place to invest in nowadays.

Thanks for the info. I assumed it was something like this. As said I've seen most of those aircaft at some stage or another in places such as LHR or GVA but to see so many in one go really was a first for me. especially with the exec 777 and a330 there too.
