Any News Of The Fate Of Biman A310 S2-ADE?

Wed Jun 27, 2007 11:19 pm

I´d like to know what happens with Biman Bangladesh´s A310 which so spectacularly aborted takeoff at Dubai in March, fell on its nose and slid off the runway. Is it damaged beyond repair or will it fly again?

The aviation-safety.net listing for this incident contains the following quote:

A Biman spokesman reported to The Star newspaper that the airplane was considered damaged beyond economical repair.

It's still sitting near the EK hangars, the engines have been removed. Rumour has it the fuselage will be dumped into the sea as an articial reef, like the PIA A300 and Aeroflot IL-86 some years ago.

Quoting Fly-K (Reply 2):

Never heard about those two! Well, maybe they'll just get acft with tech problems to ditch in future and save the bother of having to transport them out to see.

Sad to see the A310 is a DBER, but at least no one was badly hurt or killed. Mind you, for BG, after the DC10 at Chittagong a while back and now, this A310, it can't make things any easier for them.
