Question About Star Alliance Lounge Access

Thu Jun 28, 2007 8:45 am

I'll be travelling in Sept F class on UA from SFO to LHR.
I am not Star Alliance Gold, only lowly Star Alliance Silver.
I understand that UA's First Lounge at LHR is nothing to write home about, and am wondering if I would be able to access other Star lounges at T3 such as Thai Intl. or SIngapore as long as I have a same-day F class ticket.
Not all who wander are lost....

RE: Question About Star Alliance Lounge Access

As a *A F class passenger you will be able to access any of the Star Alliance lounges at LHR. The RCC and First section are by far the worst of the five *A lounges at LHR.

The London Lounge is used by SAS. As you head up the ramp away from the shopping area you'll see it just ahead of you. Pretty nice Scandinavian inspired lounge with internet PCs upstairs and lots of seating areas. Not bad selection of nibbles and a few drinks.

SQ have two separate lounges, a First Class and Raffles Class sections. As you head up the ramp away from the shopping area go left and follow the corridor. You'll see the lounge on your right hand side. The SQ lounges are open in the morning and are usually very empty, a marked contrast to the London Lounge & RCC. The SQ lounges have nice little breakfast items, nothing too exquisite but if you want to have a yoghurt and a fruit juice and watch the news in relative peace then you'll be just fine.

As an addition, hypothetically if you were flying SQ in F you'd be able to access the Virgin Clubhouse. This isn't a *A wide benefit, just those flying SQ.
