Airbus Finalises 86 Plane Orders In China

Thu Jun 28, 2007 5:57 pm

Reuters reports that 86 planes out of the bulk order of 150 A 320 planes that Airbus secured last October has now been placed to different airlines.
The split is as follows:

Shenzen Airlines 28
Sichuan Airlines 18
Hainan Airlines 13
Junyao Airlines 6
Spring Airlines 6
China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corp 15

Does anyone know if the first 64 already was placed to the bigger carriers and how were those split??

No, these 86 acft are the first of the 150; none of the larger carriers will be taking any of these, although they may well do from the further 64, as they are all A32X operators.

Airbus signed the contact for the A320 assembly plant in China.

http://fr.biz.yahoo.com/28062007/202...our-son-usine-d-assemblage-en.html

I have looked all over, FT, BBC World News and other news websites but I have not been able to find a link to this in English.

In brief, Airbus envoy has signed the contract for the A320 assembly plant which is being built in China, apparentaly in Tianjin. The contract between Airbus and China was signed in Beijing. This will be the first A320 assembly plant to be outside of Europe.

Chinese partners will be AVIC I and AVIC II, and Tianjin Bonded Zone Investment Co. Airbus will have 51% of the stakes in the chinese plant.

The first aircraft to come out of this new assembly plant should be delivered in the first semester 2009.
There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde

This is not so, some, as this one, are booked 8 month in advance of the fact.

It seems that anybody has forgotten that this "General Terms Agreement" without details, signed with the Chinese Government when President Chirac visited China in 10/2006 without any details regarding technology trasnfer, ownership of the plant, etc. was nearly immediately included in the ORDER BOOK. See phrase in Airbus press release, now, 8 months later, Airbus writes in their release:

"allocating 86 of the 150 aircraft purchased under the General Terms Agreement signed between CASGC and Airbus in October 2006. Nearly half of these 150 A320 family aircraft will be assembled and delivered in Tianjin."

The release does not mention the 64 still not allocated aircrafts
as included in the order book:

CASGC 40 A319 60 A320 50 A321

I will surly be again accusing of Airbus bashing, but these are the facts.

I am always happy to see new Airbus orders; I am also happy to see new Boeing orders because this duopoly situation is good for both companies. But I always have a bad feeling about each Airbus to be built in China.

With each Airbus built in China we are starting to cut the ground from under our owns feet (not sure if this is the exact phrase for the English proverb, maybe there is a Chinese proverb, too?)

You have a point, but I don't think you can avoid that in the future.
If Airbus and Boeing does not put more of their production into low cost countries, they will face the risk of not being competitive against Chinese or Indian airplane manufacturer.

Dear Ikramerica, for whom an MOU is not an order, but when it is firmed-up, it is not a new order, therefore not news.
You are really incredible. !
But you are not alone in that respect.
Unfortunately.

As I remember it was an order and made Airbus get more orders then Boeing that year.

The fact that they moves the A320 to China for me indicates

1. It will be built for a long period even after the start of the A320 replacement
2. we get closer to a A320 replacement
3. China will soon be the 3rd superpower after A. a willing USA B. an unvilling Europe or the 2nd in parallell with Europe.
