I'm in agreement with Surf.
People bit*h moan and whine about how this or that airline just RUINED my vacation. Nevermind that they GOT me where I was going, the complaints are endless. Nowadays it's delays. "I spent 5 Hours waiting in line at JFK to takeoff on my trip to LAX". Perhaps those people who complain the loudest ought to be put in a car to DRIVE from NYC to LA. Maybe after 6 hours in the car, as they are just getting to Ohio, they can look up and the the plane that could have "held them hostage" for 5 hours back in New York. Four hours later, as they cross the Indiana state line, they can take comfort in knowing that some clown who's stepping off that plane in LA most likely has a lost bag. Along about Kansas City, when those "hostages" are waking up to begin the day in LA, our complainer will be looking for a cheap hotel. TWO DAYS later, when our complainer enters the Los Angeles City Limits, the business passengers from that "hostage" flight are most likely heading to the airport to return home.
yeah, nothings perfect, but flying on a plane sure beats driving, delays and all.
