RFD To Extend United Subsidies

Fri Jun 29, 2007 3:14 am

I am glad that the officials of both RFD and United are working together to make the RFD-DEN route work. Sometimes the option of tinkering with the prices is utilized as a way to achieve success on a route such as this. To me this reflects a determination on the part of RFD officials to seriously make this flight profitable for United and suitable for the passengers as indicated here:

"O'Brien and Dunn have lobbied United officials to increase the lowest fares and decrease the highest fares. The average fare has increased in the past few months to just over $140, where it was once around $120, while the percentage of seats filled has also gone up."

Again, I am excited to see this kind of effort put forth by an airport administration. I don't always see this kind of dialogue which results in the airport losing the flight.
