HELP- What Airline To Fly From DFW To DCA

Wed Aug 09, 2000 12:35 pm

Does anyone have a suggestion as to which airline I should choose to fly from Dallas Forth Worth to Washington National? United is cheapest- but I don't fly United. AA is second, but I would rather fly something new, like Continental or TWA. Does anyone have any experience with airlines flying into or out of DCA?
Thanks in advance,
R

Fly Delta. I believe they still have MD-90 service from DFW to DCA.

If you want to try something new, fly Legend from DAL--IAD

I'd say AA for the most flights and new coach seating. For something new, and special, I'd say Legend to IAD.

doesn't US Airways operate that route 1 or 2 x daily? if they don't, consider taking Legend, i want to take Legend and I have heard really good things about them.

Will your flight involve a connection? If you aren't worried about changing planes, check into Midwest Express. They operate DFW-MKE-DCA using DC-9-30 aircraft, and offer superior service for fares less than or equal to AA, CO, US and UA. Often times, they are cheaper.

YX has a few flights on DFW-MKE-DCA daily, and serveral return options on DCA-MKE-DFW. On one return leg from DCA, the flight is operated by Skyway using a Fairchild 328JET.

Legend is a good idea.

The best way would be DELTA on an MD-90

flights
1918
678
1288

and back
887
563
975

Enjoy.

If you don't mind changing planes, what about Air Tran, last time I checked you can do DFW-ATL-DCA.

You can't take AirTran to DCA, but you can take them to IAD. I'd sugguest taking Legend to IAD. Dulles is fascinating. I'd say even more than DCA. The main hall is incredible, and I think the mobile lobbies are interesting as well (even if it is contrary to popular opinion). Legend to Dulles is my sugguestion, although you can take Delta with the MD-90. Expect better service from Legend though.

Try Midwest Express. I am not sure if it would be the cheapest but it is better than Delta or United or any other airline like that. They have a 2-2 configuration w/ leather seats. There is only one class-coach. I think it would be DFW-MKE-DCA with a DC-9 both flights. Fares depend on dates. Just an idea.

I think that Legend from DAL-IAD would be the most fun, and you can fly them on an inexpensive fare if you are advance-purchasing and staying a Saturday. www.legendairlines.com

Also, if you want to try the new Boeing 717, I would try TWA through STL to DCA. TWA flies the 717 and the DC9 between STL and DFW, so I would check on their web site (or elsewhere) to make sure that you are scheduled on a 717. I flew on TWA from NYC to IAH last month through STL to make sure that I could try out the 717, and it was an absolute blast! Clean, quiet, powerful (like a Porsche accelerating), fresh air...in short, fabulous!
