Comair & Eagle Flt Attendant Interview

Fri Jul 06, 2007 4:22 am

Hi all! I have 2 up coming interviews in about 2 weeks and I was wondering if anybody has any experience with American Eagle or Comair flight attendant interviews. What kind of questions do they ask? Also in your opinions, which would be the better company to work for?

Thanks!

I've worked for both companies, albeit in a ramp capacity, not inflight. However, I would like to add the fact that I think OH is a much better company overall. This is not because I am a DL fan, but because I am treated much better at OH than I was at MQ. When I started at MQ, I was working 15 hours a week and promised that it would stay that way because of school. Within a few weeks I was working at least 30 hours a week with no sign of letup. Aside from a lot of hours, they were all split shifts, which they never even asked for permission to assign per company policy. I ended up dropping a class and went from 19 to 16 credits in the spring semester. They would often make me stay at work when they knew I had class, and would send me to training even when I told them a week in advance I had a big test in algebra (by far my worst subject). Granted, I know training only occurs on specified days. I cannot comment on OH during the school year because I've only worked for them during the summer. My last two days working for MQ were the worst. They assigned me a close and an open back to back, when they aren't supposed to do. (this was after turning my two-weeks notice, by the way) We ended up closing with 3 brand new ramp agents who didn't know the new lost-baggage system. This was late February and involved ORD, mind you. At any rate, I ended up punching out at 2:30am and had to be back to the airport at 4:00am. A half hour drive to and from campus made me realize that sleeping at the airport was my only real option. I worked 4-6, slept at the airport again, and woke up in time for my 8:30-1:15 shift. I finally got to go back to my dorm after being at the airport since 6pm the day before. Then it was back to the airport for my 8pm-12am shift! Granted, most of the above was NOT MQ's fault, and I don't blame them for the weather, but closing with 3 brand new agents and assigning me a close and open back to back is not usual business practice. Anyhow, I apologize for the rant. From what I could see, most flight crews were happy, so it could be totally different for above wing employees. Maybe I just had a rough couple months, but I couldn't stick with it, school came first. But again, I have had nothing but great experiences with OH. Great people, large route network (DL included), and just about the best flight benefits in the industry. However, I think that you will immediately know which company you should work for after meeting the people and having your interview. I knew that OH was the place for me, it just felt right. Good luck on your interviews, I'm sure you'll make the right choice and hopefully you have a happy and safe career at whichever airline you choose!  Smile

At Comair, the junior base is JFK. There is no cost of living adjustment for being based there. Further, I believe Flight Attendant seniority does not begin to accumulate until you finish training. Finally, check to see if you will be paid anything or if accomodations are provided while in training. They have not always done so. Good luck, and see you in The Nasty.

I have heard very little complaints on these boards about American Eagle. While I have heard some rough talk about Comair, I still think Comair and its employees are awesome though!  Smile

I know the manager there... Sorry.. that's all I can say... I know atleast one that moved/tranfered to CLE just to get away from him....

With regards to the original post and seeing as how your going for a FA interview I suggest MQ... yes I did work there, no, I have not worked for OO, BUT.... MQ is currently AA's largest/ Wholly owned subsidiary.. constantly AA has used MQ to expand the regional map at the expense of the other AA Connection carriers... DL on the other hand has been taking routes from OO and auctioning them off to other carriers... I seem to remember talk of OO focusing on operating stations for DL and getting out of the flying business.. but alas, those were rumors... honestly if offered by both.. go to MQ, there's decent room for expansion within the company (70 seat flying business), and they haven't brought FA's over to Mainline very much lately (this year was the first since 2001 I think) and most of the furloughs are set to expire this year.. AMR as a whole is a great company to work for despite what the APA has to say, and unlike some carriers out there they do pay for talent (on the corp side) so if you ever want to transition, you'll have options...
Why do I fly???
