Why All The ATA Flights At MIA?

Sun Jul 08, 2007 11:02 am

Hey guys,

Anybody know why all these ATA flights have been to MIA recently. I know they are charters, but why are all converging on MIA?

Examples:
Today (Sat) 7Jul 07 TZ 6054 CUN-MIA arriving 22:30
Fri 6 Jul 07 TZ 6048 PUJ-MIA arrived 19:05
Wed 04 Jul 07 TZ 6251 MIA-MUCF (cienfuegos, I think)
Sun 03 Jun 07 TZ 6503 MIA-Camaguey,CU
Mon 02 Jul 07 TZ 6048 PUJ-MIA
Sat 30 Jun 07 TZ 6054 CUN-MIA
Thu 28 Jun 07 TZ 6602 HAV-MIA
Wed 27 Jun 07 TZ 6251 MIA-MUCF (cienfuegos, I think)
Sat 23 Jun 07 TZ 6054 CUN-MIA
Sat 23 Jun 07 TZ 6051 MIA-CUN
Wed 20 Jun 07 TZ 6251 MIA-MUCF (cienfuegos, I think)
Tue 19 Jun 07 TZ 6502 Camaguey, CU - MIA
Tue 19 Jun 07 TZ 6503 MIA-Camaguey, CU
Mon 18 Jun 07 TZ 6048 PUJ-MIA
Sun 17 Jun 07 TZ 6045 PUJ-MIA
Sat 16 Jun 07 TZ 6054 CUN-MIA
Sat 16 Jun 07 TZ 6051 MIA-CUN
Fri 15 Jun 07 TZ 6048 PUJ-MIA
Thu 14 Jun 07 TZ 6602 HAV-MIA
Sat 09 Jun 07 TZ 6054 CUN-MIA
Tue 05 Jun 07 TZ 6502 Camaguey, CU - MIA
Sun 03 Jun 07 TZ 6048 PUJ-MIA
Sun 03 Jun 07 TZ 6503 MIA-Camaguey, CU

OK, so there seems to be patterns on some, while others are just random days of the week. If it is a charter, does anybody know what/who/why is doing this?

I understand the Cuba flights as they can be nothing else but charter, but the PUJ and CUN flights are interesting as there already is scheduled service.

The MIA service is a result of some long term charter contracts. One is to Cuba and the other for flights to Punta Cana and Cancun mostly. The latter is also being operated out of San Juan.

Yea I was thinking the same thing, the past two times I have been to MIA one time to ORD around June 10th and another time to DCA about a week ago I saw a ATA 738 taxing to the runway.
