CO supporters have filed more than 50 of these FORM Letters, mostly from Travel related businesses/individuals, within the past 2 days. I suspect fairly soon the DOT will begin screaming that their Docket files are becoming saturated with meaningless submissions. So far, US has a few submissions and AA is just starting. Government HATES paperwork, so this saturation strategy may actually work to disfavor it's originators.

I don't know, but I signed AA's petition last year for DFW-PEK service, until the damn pilots union nixed that.

Now DFW will probably wait 10 years for China service, while ATL will get it next year.

So if AA gets PEK from ORD... Where are they going to get the bird to fly that route?

Does AA have more new 777's coming to them in the next 12-18months?

AA maintains very low fleet utilization for their T7s... which is the way they like to roll, to minimize inconsistencies on behalf of their premium clientele.

If they get the route, which I sincerely hope they don't, then they'll have no problem finding the eqp to op it; should they choose.

which I sincerely hope they don't,

As long as the pilots don't sabotage it, the PEK route is AA.  yes

Now they even send emails to low-tier AAdvantage members like myself to sign the petition. You can think of it what you like, but I kind of admire the attempt at lobbying with the help of customers. It's a very positive American thing, not to be seen in Europe.

Quote:
Thank you for being a loyal AAdvantage® member and for your support of American Airlines. As you may have learned, American Airlines is asking the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) for authority to fly nonstop from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Beijing, China, beginning March 25, 2009 .

We are asking valued AAdvantage members like you to help us acquire this flight. DOT bases its decision on many factors, including the amount of public support that an applicant has for its proposed route. By signing your name to our online petition you can show your support.

I doubt AA will get the route, there is already a ORDPEK route???? AA should look at another market.

This thread reminds me of an old Saturday Night Live fake commercial years ago - it was an oil company's proud message of their corporate donations and how they give a lot of money to charity...

"but if congress has its way, that'll all be taken away...no more arts, no more schools, no more hospitals...don't let that happen...write your congressman and tell him not to take away Texxon's tax breaks and subsidies...or the unthinkable could happen..."

Cut to a sick little girl in a hospital with an IV in her arm...she turns to the camera..."don't let them take away my medicine!"

Okay, that was complete satire - but this isn't too far off.

Do these petitions really work? Does a congressman from Georgia say, "well, I'd really like to see ATL-PEK, but since only 50 people signed that petition for DL, but 55 people signed AA's, I better vote for DFW".

I'm sorry, I think the whole petition thing is just a waste of time.
