MEM Loads: DEN/LAS/MCO Any News?

Recently Frontier began non-stop service from Memphis to Denver, Las Vegas and Orlando. If I remember correctly, AirTran then added non-stop Orlando service from the Bluff City all the while Northwest came back with an additional flight to Orlando plus upgrading their Denver flights to mainline. Has anyone any news on load factors?

Several years back Midway began nonstop service, MEM-RDU. That didn't last long as NWA immediately came in with new flights to RDU and then Midway went bankrupt. I hope Memphis can hang onto Frontier and the additional service with AirTran. God knows the city needs the competition!

Frontier's DEN-MEM and MEM-MCO are both doing very well. MEM-LAS was slower to start, but is building and goes to daily service (from 2 x weekly) in September.

Later in the year DEN-MEM goes to 3 x daily and then by Christmas MEM-MCO goes to 2 x daily.

I believe Airtran's MEM-MCO is also doing well, but they are dropping theTuesdays and Wednesdays flights in September. It comes back as daily later in the year.

Good loads, but absurdly low fares which do not begin to cover operating costs.

Thanks for the update. They must be doing extremely well if adding flights. I didn't know til now that LAS was only 2x weekly. Great news for the city.

I don't think I'd call DEN-MEM fares "absurdly low", but yes, MEM-MCO has some real bargains.

For a while there, a couple of months ago, Airtran was offering $84 round trips. Those days seem to be gone, at least.

The routes are doing very well as Mariner has stated. Especially the early flight from DEN-MEM because it makes that quick stop in MEM and goes on to MCO. It is an overflow for the non-stop DEN-MCO

I had heard from a NW gate agent that they were thinking of scaling back the flights from DEN-MEM after they rushed to bump them up to airbus from the RJ. It has been a while since I heard that, so I am not sure if that is still the case.
