A quick google search reveals Comdex was suspended in 2004 but that organizers are working to put it back together. In the mean time there are several smaller events similar to Comdex including one in Vegas.

NAB comes in late April. It's about the same number of attendees. But it usually runs a whole week. The subsect conferences such as RTNDA and NBE
I have not been to NAB but I seriously doubt it is 150,000 people. And I know there can't be that many at RTNDA, I mean I doubt there are even 150,000 people in all forms of broadcast/ internet journalism across the United States.
It's Vegas, there is always conventions going on after the first of the year. I was there in January and thanks to my flight getting cancelled I was standing at the cab line on a Sunday night trying to go get a hotel room for the night. It was the longest I had ever seen the cabstand line (and I have flown in on Friday nights a couple of times before) so I asked the cabbie what was going on, he said "some convention starts tomorrow (which was a Monday), construction or cement or something I think, there are always conventions this time of year"
