What To Do With My Tickets?

Sun Jul 15, 2007 4:31 pm

I used my Mileage Plus miles to book 4 UA flights for next month. But now, unfortunately, we can't go next month. What can I do with these tickets? Here are my options:

1. Cancel and recredit the miles. But will cost me $100x4. With all the mileage restriction nowadays, is it worthwhile to pay $400 to keep that 100,000 miles?
2. Postpone the travel date to/from same airports. Free but I have only to December (that was when I booked the flight last Dec).
3. Forget it and say goodbye to the miles and tickets.

Any other options that you can think of? Can the tickets be changed to relatives names so they can use it?

Any advices or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

If they are paper tickets, you could always frame them and give them to your local museum.  duck

What I would do is change my plans so I COULD go next month... Flying somewhere always takes precedence.

I would pay the 400$ to re-credit the miles. But it depends on how much the miles mean to you. 40,000 miles costs over $1k if you buy them straight out.

I just went through nearly the same experience, but with AA and AAdvantage miles. The cost was $100 for the first person, but only $25 for the second (same PNR) to reinstate the miles to my account. Worth it for 50K miles...

Are you sure it is $100 per person?
